Custom EMS & Flight Badge FAQ

How do I design a custom EMS badge?

Open the badge designer at leather-badges for flight wing and leatherette badges, or custom-badges to upload your own logo or artwork. Enter your name, credentials, and any agency details. The live preview updates in real time so you see exactly how your badge will look before you order.

Can I upload my department logo or artwork?

Yes. The custom badge designer accepts PNG, JPG, SVG, and PDF uploads. Upload your department logo, agency seal, or any custom image and the tool processes it for engraving. Even a photo of your agency patch works as a starting point. See the custom EMS badge upload guide for more on the artwork process.

What happens if my uploaded logo doesn't convert perfectly?

Every order is reviewed by a person before it goes to the laser. If your uploaded artwork has compression artifacts, gradients, or formatting that won't translate cleanly to engraving, our artwork conversion tool catches those issues and we clean up the file before cutting. If the adjustment would materially change your design, we contact you before proceeding. Nothing is engraved until the result looks the way it should.

Do you review the design before production?

Yes, every order. No badge goes to the laser without a human review step. This catches artwork issues, layout problems, and anything that would result in a badge that doesn't match what you ordered.

Can I order flight paramedic or flight nurse badges?

Yes. The badge designer includes wing graphics built for flight crew identification — flight paramedic, flight nurse, and pilot wing designs are available in the leather badge designer. Add your name, credentials (FP-C, CFRN, CCEMTP, RN, NRP, and others), and agency details alongside the wing. See flight paramedic badges and flight nurse badges for more information.

Can I order badges for a whole crew or agency?

Yes. Crew and department orders use the same design tool and checkout path. Each badge can carry a different name and credential line against a consistent agency logo and layout. The human review step applies to every badge in the set. For orders of ten or more badges, contact [email protected] before placing the order. See the bulk crew badge guide for details.

What badge sizes are available?

Three standard sizes: 2×3 inches (compact credential badge), 2×4 inches (standard name badge, most popular for EMS and flight crew), and 3×5 inches (full agency display with larger logo). The live preview scales accurately for each size so you can check the layout before ordering.

Can I add Velcro backing?

Yes. Velcro hook-and-loop backing is available as an add-on for any badge during checkout. This is the standard attachment method for flight suits, uniform jackets, and gear bags that have existing loop fabric on the chest panel.

Is checkout secure?

Yes. All orders are processed through Shopify's encrypted checkout. Your payment information is handled entirely by Shopify's PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure — we never see or store your card data. You don't need to create an account to place an order.

Who makes The EMS Collection badges?

The EMS Collection is a brand of Woven on the Plains, based in Auburn, Alabama. Every badge is cut and laser-engraved by hand at their Auburn facility. Orders are not drop-shipped or outsourced overseas.

Can I reorder the same badge later?

Yes. You can save your design in the badge designer and return to order again. For crew orders where you need to add a new name to an existing layout, email [email protected] with your previous order reference and we can assist with matching the original layout.

Do you make official agency badges or credential IDs?

No. The EMS Collection produces custom name and gear badges for personal and professional uniform use. Our badges are not official government-issued credentials, law enforcement identification, or agency-authorized ID documents. They are custom-made name and insignia badges designed for EMS, flight, SAR, and public safety professionals to wear on uniforms, gear, and equipment.
