For Flight Nurses & Critical Care Crews
Custom Flight Nurse Badges
Laser-engraved leather name badges built for the demands of rotor-wing and fixed-wing nursing — your name, credentials, agency logo, and optional wings, designed by you and reviewed by a real person before production.
Built for Flight Nurses and Critical Care Transport Professionals
Flight nurses operate in environments that standard name badges simply were not designed for — rotor wash, blood pressure cuffs, rapid-sequence intubation, confined cockpit spaces. Whether you fly with a hospital-based air medical program, a dedicated critical care transport service, or a mixed rotor/fixed-wing operation, you need a badge that stays put, reads clearly from arm's length, and holds up to the real wear your uniform takes over a multi-year career.
Our flight nurse badges are popular with registered nurses holding CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse), CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), and CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) credentials, as well as transport nurses working in neonatal, pediatric, and adult critical care roles. The badge is equally at home clipped to a flight suit, a trauma shear pouch, or a professional uniform shirt worn in the base.
We also serve nurses working adjacent roles in public safety: SAR (search and rescue) nursing liaisons, offshore medical personnel, and hospital-based emergency department nurses who want a badge that looks as sharp as their clinical credentials. If you carry a certification and a call radio, this badge was designed for you.

How the Design Process Works
Start by opening our live badge designer at /leather-badges. Choose your badge dimensions, select a leather finish, then enter your name and credentials exactly as you want them to appear — most flight nurses include their last name, first initial, and one or two primary certifications (RN, CFRN, CCRN, BSN, and so on). The preview updates in real time so you can compare layouts before committing.
If your agency or program has a logo or patch design you want included, upload it directly in the designer. Our artwork conversion tool processes common file formats and maps the image to the engraving field. If the file you upload has fine detail that would not translate cleanly to laser engraving — thin hairlines, gradients, or very small text — our team will reach out after your order is placed and rework the artwork before anything goes to the laser. You do not need to prepare a special vector file; we take care of the conversion.
Once you are satisfied with the preview, proceed to checkout. After your order is received, a member of our team reviews the final badge layout, confirms all text is spelled correctly and formatted consistently, and clears it for production. This review step exists because a badge with a misspelled credential or a clipped logo edge is not something either of us wants — catching it before the leather is engraved is far easier than catching it after.
Why Laser-Engraved Leather Outperforms Embroidered and Printed Badges
Embroidered name tags look great on day one. By year two, threads have frayed from repeated washings, fabric softener has flattened the stitching, and the colors have shifted. Printed plastic badges crack, peel at the laminate edge, and scratch to illegibility inside a gear bag. Laser-engraved leather does none of those things — the name and credentials are etched into the grain of the material itself, not applied on top of it. There is nothing to peel, fade, or unravel.
Leather also carries a professional weight that synthetic alternatives simply cannot match. In air medical settings where first impressions matter — family bedside, interfacility handoffs, hospital dock interactions — a well-made leather badge signals the same attention to detail you bring to patient care. It is a small thing that reads as deliberate rather than off-the-shelf.
From a practical standpoint, leather engraving has no minimum thread count or color limitations. Fine detail in certification seals, agency logos with thin strokes, and small-point credential text all engrave cleanly because the laser works at a resolution that embroidery physically cannot reach. The result is a badge that remains crisp and legible throughout the life of a uniform — or several uniforms.
Placing Your Order and Checkout
After finalizing your design in the badge builder, you are directed to a standard Shopify-powered checkout. Shopify handles all payment processing, which means your card information is encrypted end-to-end and never touches our servers directly. Shopify's checkout is used by millions of businesses worldwide and meets current PCI DSS compliance standards — the same infrastructure behind large-scale retail operations.
You can order a single badge or outfit an entire crew. For flight programs, transport teams, or departments that need multiple badges with consistent formatting — matching layouts, same credential abbreviations, same logo placement — our bulk ordering process keeps everything uniform. Each badge in a crew order still goes through individual review before production so no single badge in the set gets missed.
After checkout you will receive an order confirmation email. If our review team has questions about your artwork or layout, they will follow up at the email address on the order before production begins. You are never left wondering whether your badge is in the queue — the confirmation and any follow-up communication give you a clear picture of where your order stands.
What to Expect: Common Questions from Flight Nurses
Can I include multiple credentials? Yes. Most flight nurses list two to four certifications. The designer lets you format the credential line however you prefer — comma-separated, line-stacked, or abbreviated. The live preview shows exactly how each format looks at badge scale so you can choose what reads best before ordering.
What if I change programs or earn a new certification? Badges are made to order and personalized to your exact specification, so they are not returnable for a preference change. That said, ordering a replacement badge with updated credentials is straightforward — many customers treat it as a routine refresh when they earn a new cert or move to a new agency. The badge builder saves no session data between visits, so simply start a new design with your updated information.
My agency logo is only available as a low-resolution PNG. Will that work? Upload what you have. Our artwork conversion tool can work with most common raster formats. If the file you send is too low-resolution to engrave cleanly, our team will contact you before production. In many cases we can source or reconstruct a cleaner version of a known agency seal — just note the agency name in your order comments.
Do you make badges for whole flight crews or just individual orders? Both. Individual orders are welcome, and so are crew-level orders for programs that want a consistent set of badges across all nursing and paramedic staff. Reach out to [email protected] if you are coordinating a larger crew order and want to discuss layout standardization before placing it.
